There is a document up on this blog that contains the notes for this presentation, but this is the first time I've posted the completed talk and subsequently published essay.

Table of Contents for Work In Progress: Can the Philippines' Revolution Re-emerge? Humanism and Social Transformation
Chapter 2 of my new
book, Hegel, Marx, and the Necessity and
Freedom Dialectic: Marxist-Humanism and Critical Theory in the United
States (http://marxist-humanistdialectics.blogspot.com/2018/03/coming-out-in-may-necessity-and-freedom.html) describes Herbert Marcuse’s break with
Martin Heidegger’s existentialism in the former’s two 1932 works: Hegel’s
Ontology and the Theory of Historicity,
and “New Sources on the Foundations of Historical Materialism”.
I am including a
link to the Table of Contents for my work in progress—Can the Philippines’ Revolution Re-emerge? Humanism and Social
Transformation. Included are papers I presented from the early 2000s to
2016 at universities in the Philippines on Critical Theory and
Marxist-Humanism, which attempt to show the relevance of Marcuse and Raya
Dunayevskaya’s developing critical social theories in the context of revolution
and counter-revolution in the Philippines.

Duterte’s Oplan Tokhang: Can the Philippines’ Revolution Re-Emerge?
I'm posting an essay ("Duterte’s Oplan Tokhang: Can the Philippines’ Revolution Re-Emerge?") based on research and interviews I conducted during visits to the Philippines in November 2016 and April 2017. I may still publish it, but I wanted to share it with friends now in light of two recent events: the recent intensification of Duterte's "war on drugs", in which perhaps 80, mostly urban poor, have been murdered by the police, and President Trump's comments, reported in last week's NYT: https://nyti.ms/2vGvylL
